Juno, made in 2007 is a comedy film by Diablo Cody introduced in February. begin
in the first shot of the title sequence split into a cartoon based format of 9
photographs. From the first shot you can see 9 places in which Juno (Ellen
Page) bases her life, the 9 images then dissolve into a panning shot of her
walking through the street of her home town. The cartoon format of the scene
during the title sequence shows how even though the film is based on a teenage
pregnancy involving a usually adult situation that Juno is still a young child
in mind and at heart. This reveals how shocking it is to her, her family, her
boyfriend and also the audience when she became pregnant at the tender
age of 16. The sound which is non-diegetic during the background of the
title sequence added post production is happy and upbeat but relaxed
reflecting Juno’s character in the film, you are clear of her character
and how she is slightly oblivious to what is happening to her until the
last minute when she delivers a new born baby, however throughout the
film Juno is represented as a basic teenager as you can see from the
title sequence where she is dressed in a pair of baggy jeans, a red
jumper with a plain black vest top underneath. We are introduced to Juno
as she walks through the streets is her costume represented her as an
average teenager oblivious to life around her other than her own, she
walks very slowly in the sequence often sipping a carton of orange juice
that she carries around with her whilst walking, her body language is
relaxed and casual as she walks home.
During the title sequence when she walks through the streets the
image is still in a cartoon format, this shows the imagination and the
realisticness
of her still being a young child despite her getting pregnant during the
film, be showing the title sequence in cartoon images it sets the
audiences mind as
being very imaginative and creative giving them a very non-realistic
feeling towards the beginning rather than a shock straight away of her
being a young 16 year old, who becomes pregnant. The cartoon images of
the title sequence
appeals the film from the very beginning not to a specific target
audience, the mise-en scene helps the scene vary in its target audience
capturing that the
film can appeal to any type of audience. Panning shots of Juno walking in the
first scene introduce her as a character to the audience but also establish
that she is the main character, the panning shots of the street also show the
environment that she is based in which comes across as a very normal
suburban area in the United States of America, she doesn’t stand out
from other
teenagers by what she wears, her attitude or even where she lives, she
is portrayed as a normal teenagers living an everyday life adapting to
the change
from childhood to adolescence life. Although she is 16 in the film she is still
at a very young age as you can see from her personality, her facial
expressions, her body language during tracking shots of her walking in
the
street, her clothing, hair style of just a plain pony tail with wispy parts of
her fringe hanging by her face and her innocent baby face as she isn’t
wearing any makeup in the title sequence. During the last three seconds
of the title
sequence reality begins to appear as the cartoon format dissolves into a
realistic shot of Juno in walking into a drugs store, this not only
sets the
scene, begins showing why the genre of the film is Comedy but establishes how
the film is based on the event that occurs between Juno and her boyfriend when she discovers she is pregnant.

Preliminary Task
We were told to produce a preliminary task. This was to help us gain knowledge on how to use the cameras. Our task was to produce a short conversation between two people. The camera had to stay on a 180 degree line, this was because we needed to ensure that it looked realistic. The camera had to be an over the shoulder shot with the use of shot reverse shot to show the conversation.
